aPPLIED SUICIDE INTERVENTION SKILLS TRAINING (ASIST)
ASIST is developed by the World Leaders of suicide prevention training – LivingWorks Education. It is the best suicide intervention skills training you can attend.
ASIST is a suicide intervention training course that not only teaches the theory and practice of being suicide alert and how to conduct a full suicide intervention with follow-up. But provides multiple opportunities for participants to put learning into practice. This is an active learning experience which sets ASIST aside from other shorter theory based courses.
ASIST Course Overview
Over the course of their two-day workshop, participants learn and practice how to:
Understand
the ways that personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide and interventions.
Provide
guidance and suicide first aid to a person at risk of suicide in ways that meet their individual safety needs.
Identify
the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to implement it.

RecogniSe
other important aspects of suicide prevention including life-promotion and self-care.
Appreciate
the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources in the community at large.
Following the course
Participants will be a recognised ‘suicide “first aider”or “Life Assisting Caregiver”, ready, willing and able to save lives.
This course is the first suicide prevention training to be registered onto the National Registry of Evidence based Programmes and Practices in the UK and is taught on an international level. It is considered the gold standard of suicide intervention training.
Participants receive a certificate of attendance provided they have been present in all 15 hours of the course and actively participated. Hours attended can be used towards CPD credits.
